Strategic Procurement and Contracts (SPC) provides assistance to units and departments within Brown and plays a vital role in optimizing the relationship between the University and its Suppliers.

Supplier Engagement Policy Statement

Brown University is committed to developing mutually beneficial relationships and inclusive purchasing practices by engaging businesses, including but not limited to small and local businesses offering goods and services. This Supplier Engagement statement reflects Brown's desire to create opportunities for suppliers to market their goods and services to the University and to encourage University departments to offer opportunities to suppliers.

The term “supplier” is a general term used to refer to any person or organization that needs to be set up in Workday to be paid. Suppliers may be individuals, independent contractors, businesses, corporations, hospitals, small and local businesses and other institutions.

The University expects purchasing decisions to be made consistent with Brown's best interests and to display fairness and integrity in the acquisition of goods and services and create opportunities with suppliers, including but not limited to small and local businesses, during the purchase process.
